Toronto Christmas Markets: Dates, Prices and Which Are Free

The market most people mean when they search this has published its 2026 dates and its 2026 prices. The Distillery Winter Village runs November 12, 2026 to January 3, 2027, with the tree lighting on Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m. Its FAQ says "Tickets for The 2026 Distillery Winter Village are now on sale", and a General Admission ticket is $19.89 all in. Entry is free before 4 p.m. every day it opens. Three other GTA markets have already posted 2026 dates and free admission, and a fourth is pay-what-you-can.

"Toronto Christmas Market" and the Distillery Winter Village are the same event

You will still see both names, and the organiser settles it. Is the Distillery Winter Village the same as the Toronto Christmas Market? Its FAQ answers: "Yes. The Distillery Winter Village is Toronto's iconic Christmas market, previously known as the Toronto Christmas Market."

The fast-facts page adds the history. It began in 2010 as Toronto's first European-style Christmas market, and is "now in its 17th year (and seventh as The Distillery Winter Village)". So if a listing sends you looking for a separate "Toronto Christmas Market" elsewhere in the city, there isn't one.

The 2026 dates that are actually confirmed

Every date in this table comes from the organiser's own site, read on August 26, 2026. The Distillery's admission terms were re-read on September 29, 2026.

The Cavalcade row needs a note. The City of Toronto's public Cavalcade of Lights page carries no dates at all. Searched on August 26 it returned no match for "November", "free", "admission" or "ticket". It was last modified on January 8, 2026. The 2026 dates above come from the City's own sponsorship page, which lists them plainly. Neither page states an admission price either way. The sponsorship page does say, twice, that the event includes "free public skating to music". It also says the skating and the light installations "remain until January 7".

Free or ticketed: the Distillery rule, exactly

"Free on weekdays, paid on weekends" is the shorthand, and it is wrong both ways. The organiser's 2026 ticket page says tickets are required on opening night, from 4 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 4 p.m. every Thursday in December, and from 4 p.m. daily from December 14 to 31. Then it adds: "Admission is free all day Monday-Wednesday through December 13, and at all other non-ticketed times."

Read that carefully and three things follow. A Saturday morning in November is free. A Tuesday evening on December 15 is not. And on a ticketed day, "you must be inside the gates before 4 p.m. to enter free". Children aged 9 and under are always free, on every tier.

The organiser's own pages do not quite agree on which evenings need a ticket. The booking calendar on the ticket page departs from that rule on seven dates. It sells timed tickets after 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 19 and 26, though the FAQ says "Thursdays in November are also free, except on Opening Night." It shows "No Tickets Required" on Thursday, December 3 and 10, and on January 1 to 3. It also shows the village closed on Christmas Day. Neither page says which one wins, so check the calendar for your date before you go. The daily schedule page, meant to show day by day whether tickets are required, still had an empty table on September 29, 2026. Here is what 2026 costs:

The arithmetic is worth seeing, because the headline number is not what you pay. $16.00 + $1.60 = $17.60, and with HST the page's own total is $19.89. Tickets are sold online only, and the page says there is no on-site box office. They are non-refundable, and you cannot leave and come back once inside.

The base price has gone up since last season. The organiser's own news page still carries its dated 2025 release, which says "Tickets start at $15 + HST and admin fee" for a season that ran November 13, 2025 to January 4, 2026. The 2026 FAQ says "Tickets start at $16, plus HST and service charge". Last season's tickets went on sale on September 17, 2025.

The markets that are free, or close to it

**Toronto Botanical Garden's Holiday EcoMarket** says "Admission is free". It runs Friday 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both of its 2026 weekends. Expect more than 100 vendors, free drop-in crafting for kids on the weekend and free marshmallows to roast outdoors.

**Aurora's Christmas Market** is free at Aurora Town Square. The Town's page carries a scam warning worth repeating. All official emails about the market come from an address ending in @aurora.ca. Do not send payment or personal information to anything else.

The **Cranberry Christmas Market** at Clarke Memorial Hall in Mississauga is free. A non-perishable food or hygiene donation for the Compass Food Bank is encouraged, not required.

The **Mississauga Festival of Trees** holiday market at the Small Arms Inspection Building is not free but sets no price. Its page calls it "a pay-what-you-can event" and says "every donation helps create a magical experience and supports local artists and community programs. Card and cash donations welcome!" The tree art installations are on view across the full December 4 to 13 stretch, not only on the two market weekends.

**Evergreen's Winter Market** at the Brick Works is one to watch, not one to plan around. Its page says the market "will be back in 2026" without giving dates, and asks "a suggested donation of at least $5 / person". That page is otherwise a 2025 recap, so treat the $5 as last season's ask.

And the Cavalcade of Lights at Nathan Phillips Square offers "free public skating to music" from opening night through January 7, 2027. That is the City's phrase, and neither City page lists a ticket or admission charge. Be precise about what the event is, too. The City describes main stage performances, a tree and square lighting ceremony, immersive installations and skating. Neither page mentions vendors or a market. Go for the lights, not the shopping.

The ones you pay for

The **One Of A Kind Christmas Show** at the Enercare Centre has published its 2026 prices. The rates below are labelled "Early Bird Ticket Rates before November 27". They may not be what you pay at the door during the show:

• Adult, 18 and over: $23.00
• Senior, 65 and over: $18.00
• Student with valid student ID: $18.00
• Children 12 and under: free

HST and a $2.50 transaction fee are added at checkout. A ticket includes free re-entry for all 10 days of the show. Three on-site deals are posted. Seniors 65 and over pay $16 on Monday, November 30 with valid ID. PRESTO card holders pay $20 for adult admission on Wednesday, December 2. A "Twice as Nice" buy-one-get-one deal is headed "Dec 1-3 after 5pm". The same paragraph calls it "available at Box Office exclusively on Nov 30 - Dec 2 after 5 PM". So the page contradicts itself on the dates. The second ticket must be of equal or lesser value, and it carries no re-entry. Confirm at the box office before you plan around it. The show opens at 10 a.m. every day. It closes at 9 p.m. on the two Fridays, 5 p.m. on the two Sundays, 8 p.m. on every other day, and 11 p.m. on Thursday, December 3 for its late-night shopping party.

**Canada's Wonderland's WinterFest** in Vaughan turns up in Christmas-market searches. But its own page describes light displays, live entertainment and select attractions rather than a vendor market. It lists "Select Nights, November 21 - December 27" without stating which year. Check the park's calendar before you build a day around it.

Getting there and parking

The Distillery is the hard one, and the organiser says so first: "With ongoing construction and development in the area, parking is extremely limited. Visitors are strongly encouraged to take public transit or a rideshare service."

By TTC, take Line 1 to King Station, then a 504A King streetcar eastbound to the Distillery Loop. The other routes are the 121 Esplanade-River bus from Front Street and Bay Street East to Mill and Trinity. There is also the 65 Parliament bus from Castle Frank Station to Mill Street. Extra service runs Fridays from 4 p.m. to midnight and weekends from 11 a.m. to midnight. From Union Station it is about a 25-minute walk east along Front Street or The Esplanade. Wheel-Trans drops off at the Main Gate, 55 Mill Street, the designated accessible entrance.

If you must drive, the Winter Village's getting-here page lists three lots with their capacities: 200 Queens Quay East (281 spaces), 2 Church St (1969 spaces) and 100 Cooperage St (200 spaces). The District's own FAQ names the on-site Green P lots. Above ground it is Distillery Lane (#230, from Parliament Street), and underground it is 70 Distillery Lane P1 (#267, from Cherry Street). Nearby overflow sits at 100 Cooperage Street (#283), 40 Rolling Mills Road (#285) and 83 Tannery Road (#284). You pay through the Green P or Flowbird app, or at the nearest meter. Neither page publishes a rate.

For the One Of A Kind Show, the Enercare Centre garage rate is listed as "COMING SOON" on the show's getting-here page. That page does say indoor parking rates increase $3.00 on peak usage days. It also says rates rise to a maximum of $45 for BMO Field and special events such as Budweiser Stage or Echo Beach. That cap attaches to those events, not to the Christmas show. Two GO Lakeshore lines stop at Exhibition GO. Princes' Gates is closed to cars, so drivers are directed in from Lakeshore Boulevard West via Ontario Drive or Newfoundland Drive.

What is still unconfirmed, and when to look again

As of August 26, 2026, three things were still open. The first, the Distillery Winter Village's 2026 admission prices and ticketing rule, has since been published (above), though its daily schedule page still showed an empty table on September 29. The other two were the Cavalcade of Lights programme and the City's public event page, which showed nothing, and Evergreen's Winter Market dates, which its page says will return in 2026 without saying when.

The small church, school and neighbourhood markets are a genuine gap, not an omission. We searched for GTA community holiday markets with published 2026 dates in late August. Almost every result was a 2025 listing. These markets usually confirm in October and November, on parish and community-centre pages rather than anywhere indexed early. Vendor deadlines are the one early signal. Aurora's early-bird vendor pricing ends Friday, October 9, 2026, and the Cranberry Christmas Market's vendor applications close at 5 p.m. on October 5, 2026, with its public vendor list announced in November.
