Key takeaways

  • Twelve children cost $198 at the cheapest venue we priced and $750 at the dearest, a spread of 3.8 times for the same party.
  • The median twelve-child party is $334.06 as the venues print it, which is about $27.84 a child.
  • The cheapest room and activity you can rent is public: Whitby's cheapest gym slot is $198.67 plus tax for residents, and Richmond Hill's skating party is $218.95 with HST already in it.
  • Vaughan Public Libraries runs a two-hour party for $249 and undercuts every trampoline park we priced.
  • Only 4 of the 26 venues state both a deposit amount and whether it comes back, and 3 more say there is no deposit. Ten say plainly whether HST is in or out.

Twelve children, one birthday, twenty venues. On August 27, 2026 we priced the same party at each, using only the rates the venue prints on its own page. The middle of the set is $334.06, about $27.84 a child. The lowest price printed is weekday bowling at Splitsville in Richmond Hill, $198. The cheapest room and activity is public: a Whitby town gym at $198.67 plus tax, with Richmond Hill's skating party next at $218.95, HST already paid. The dearest is Ripley's Aquarium at $750, 3.8 times the cheapest. What the cheap end leaves out is food, and usually a host.

How we priced one party

Venues price parties in different shapes, so we fixed the party instead: twelve children, birthday child included. At each one we took the cheapest package twelve children can buy, then applied that venue's own rule for extra kids. Cost per child means the package price as the venue prints it, divided by twelve. It is the only figure that sets $99 bowling against a $750 flat rate. Most of these prices are before tax. Richmond Hill and the ROM are the two that print theirs with the HST already paid.

Two of the twenty price something other than a whole party, so they sit in the table but outside the median. The ROM's rates are "in addition to Museum admission", and Crock A Doodle publishes a starting price with no package attached to it. Splitsville's $99 is a starting price too, but it names what is in the package.

Venue

What twelve children pay

Cost per child

Splitsville, Richmond Hill (bowling)

two $99 packages of six = $198, Mon to Thu

$198 / 12 = $16.50

Town of Whitby (gym)

flat, Sat 20 or 15-person slot, resident, +tax = $198.67

$198.67 / 12 = $16.56

Royal Ontario Museum (tour)

12 x $10 = $120, under the $200 floor, so $200, tax in

$200 / 12 = $16.67

flat, 20 admissions, tax in = $218.95

$218.95 / 12 = $18.25

12 x $24 = $288, a starting price

$288 / 12 = $24

Town of Caledon (Kinder Party, ages 2 to 6)

Fresh Paint Studio, Toronto (art)

12 x $35 = $420 + $40 assistant = $460

$460 / 12 = $38.33

Aerosports, Brampton (trampoline)

the 15-kid tier = $478 Mon-Thu

$478 / 12 = $39.83

Sky Zone, Mississauga (trampoline)

$420 for ten + 2 x $42 = $504

$504 / 12 = $42

Funvilla, Oakville (playground)

$524.99 for ten + 2 x $15.00 = $554.99

$554.99 / 12 = $46.25

Ripley's Aquarium, Toronto

flat, 25 max, plus HST = $750

$750 / 12 = $62.50

Of the eighteen that sell a whole party, the two middle rows are $293.11 and $375. So the median is ($293.11 + $375) / 2 = $334.06, and $334.06 / 12 is about $27.84 a child. The dearest is 3.8 times the cheapest, for the same twelve children. Split by who runs them, the twelve private venues that sell a whole party sit at ($420 + $456) / 2 = $438. The six run by a city, town, library or YMCA sit at ($249 + $262.05) / 2 = $255.53. Two of those medians work out to a half cent, and we round halves up.

Five ways a venue prices a party

The middle column shows five shapes. A base price plus a fee per extra child. A price per person with a minimum head count. A flat rate up to a cap. Blocks bought in multiples, which is how Splitsville sells packages of six. And a step between tiers, with no per-child fee at all.

The last one is the expensive surprise. Aerosports Brampton publishes no per-additional-child fee for its jumper packages. Rookie covers 10 jumpers, Pro covers 15, so an eleventh child costs $478 - $319 = $159 and kids twelve through fifteen are free. The only extra head it prices is a non-jumper, at $5. A separate upgrade of longer play time and arcade tokens is $7.50 per child.

A flat rate for 25 is not a deal for 12

Ripley's Aquarium sells admission "for up to 25 guests (including adults and children)" for $750, so twelve children pay for thirteen empty seats. LEGOLAND's $750 Premium package counts adults the same way. But LEGOLAND's own FAQ publishes a way out that Ripley's does not: an Epic Party Package at $19.00 plus tax a person, so 12 x $19.00 = $228. It buys admission and party crowns, nothing else. It runs Monday to Friday, needs at least ten children, and must be prepaid two weeks ahead.

The cheapest party room in the GTA belongs to a town

Four of the six city and town pages we read publish a price, and all four land between $198.67 and $293.11. Only four of the twelve private venues that sell a whole party come in that low: Splitsville at $198, LEGOLAND's admission-only package at $228, Cineplex at $250.68 and Chuck E. Cheese at $279.93. The other eight start at $408. Two more rows in the table sit under $293.11 without selling a whole party. The ROM's $200 is on top of museum admission, and Crock A Doodle's $288 is a starting price.

Whitby publishes six two-hour slots for parties of 25 and under at one community centre, each an hour of gym plus two hours of room. Four hold 25 people at $221.17 plus tax for residents. The two Saturday slots holding 20 and 15 people are $198.67 plus tax, the cheapest of the six for a party of twelve. Non-residents pay $229.33 for those, a gap of $229.33 - $198.67 = $30.66.

Richmond Hill publishes a price for every package but one and states flatly that "All prices include HST". Its cheapest package that holds twelve is the skating party at $218.95: 20 public-skate admissions plus 90 minutes of party room. That price has the HST in it, one of only two in the table that do. Beside Whitby's $198.67 plus tax, the two are closer than they look. Toronto publishes one price, $262.05, for two weekend slots at Flemingdon Community Centre, up to 20 children. And a library beats every trampoline park. Vaughan Public Libraries runs two hours with an hour of staff-led building at $249 for up to 15 children, or $299 for Rad Robots.

The trade is that you buy a room and an activity, not a meal. Whitby says "all parties are self serve and do not include a party host or decorations". Caledon says staff run the one-hour activity only and will not help "with decorating, serving food or cake, or organizing gifts". Its $293.11 Kinder Party is for ages 2 to 6 only; for older children its cheapest party that fits twelve is the Youth Centre Party at $376.90. The YMCA of Oakville does not provide "decorations, food, drinks, napkins/plates/tablecloths".

Weekdays are cheaper, where anyone publishes a weekday rate

Only five of the twenty publish a weekday difference in price, and only two print a full rate card for both. Where the gap is published it runs about 15 to 25 per cent. LEGOLAND's $19.00 package goes further: it runs Monday to Friday only, with no weekend version at any price.

Air Riderz charges $340 for ten children on a weekday and $390 on a weekend, so twelve kids move from $408 to $390 + 2 x $39 = $468, a gap of $60. Aerosports charges $478 Monday to Thursday and $563 Friday and Saturday, a gap of $563 - $478 = $85. Cineplex advertises weekday parties from $16.65 a child, or 12 x $16.65 = $199.80 against $250.68. Sky Zone has a code for 25 per cent off any Mega or Epic party held Monday to Friday, taking $504 x 0.75 = $378 and saving $504 - $378 = $126. That one is a promotion, not a rate card, so check it is still live.

There is no weekday saving on the public side: those packages are weekend work. Toronto's Flemingdon slots are Saturday and Sunday; Vaughan, Caledon and the YMCA run Friday evenings and weekends.

What the small print adds

Four of the 26 venues state both a deposit amount and whether it comes back. Three more say plainly that there is no deposit. Ten say whether HST is in or out, and two more say it for part of the price. The rest leave it to the invoice.

The largest hidden line is a gratuity, which is a tip added to your bill automatically. The Rec Room prices its kids package per person and its sheet adds "All applicable taxes and 18% gratuity not included". Twelve children at $35 a head is 12 x $35 = $420 on the sheet and $420 x 1.18 = $495.60 before HST, with private space extra and unpriced. The Bubble says "Prices are subject to HST & 10% service fee", so $456 is really $456 x 1.10 = $501.60 before tax.

Four more. Cineplex publishes one rate for "all Cineplex locations", its GTA cinemas included. That per-child price buys no room: a party suite for an hour is $60.00 plus hst. Caledon and Whitby both require insurance and neither prices it. Vaughan Public Libraries charges $30.00 only if library staff have to clean up. And Ripley's puts no price on the page a parent lands on: the $750 sits in a PDF flyer that page links to.

The best disclosure here is a small studio. Fresh Paint Studio publishes what others save for the bill. Parties of ten or more need a second art assistant at $40 plus HST. Outside food and clean-up is $45 plus HST, a late start past fifteen minutes costs $50 plus HST, and deposits do not come back. That is why twelve children cost $460 there, not $420.

Mississauga searches hardest and publishes least

"Birthday party venues mississauga" draws 390 searches a month, second only to Toronto here. The City of Mississauga publishes no birthday package and no room rate at all. Its rentals page lists birthday parties, then sends you to a form or a phone line. Vaughan does the same: eleven party themes, a head-count cap on ten, no package price anywhere, and a tag telling search engines to skip the page. Its own library publishes every price it charges.

So Mississauga parents buy private, at $408 to $504 for twelve. Life Time's club there publishes the marginal cost and withholds the rest: the only dollar figure on its kids events page is "Additional children are $20 each". Bowlerama Rexdale puts its rates inside two flat images, so the only figure a search engine or screen reader can reach is a $5 coupon. Activate at Stock Yards offers a booking form and no price.

The Ontario Science Centre no longer does birthday parties

Older roundups still list it, so here it is. The Ontario Science Centre is open at Harbourfront Centre on Queens Quay West, not at its old Don Mills building. Admission is "$15 per visitor (tax included)", free for children two and under, with 20 per cent off for groups of 20 or more. There is no party package anywhere on its site. Its permanent home is being built at Ontario Place: the Centre says work is underway and the province confirms the move. Neither page gives an opening year, so we print none.

What to ask before you book

Start with the deposit, which here means money paid up front and taken off your final total, not a damage deposit returned afterwards. Sky Zone asks for "a minimum deposit of $150 plus the full price of any optional add-ons", refundable in the first 72 hours of booking. Chuck E. Cheese takes $50 and Ripley's takes $250, and neither comes back. Then ask whether HST is in the price, whether a service fee follows it, whether a room and a host are included, and whether the cap counts adults.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a kids birthday party cost in the GTA?

Across the 18 venues that sell a whole party, priced on August 27, 2026, twelve children cost $198 to $750. The median is $334.06 as printed, or about $27.84 a child. That is what these venues charge, not a regional average.

What is the cheapest birthday party place?

Weekday bowling, on the printed price. Splitsville in Richmond Hill sells packages of six for $99 each, so twelve children are two packages, or $198. The cheapest public room is a Whitby gym at $198.67 plus tax for residents. Richmond Hill's skating party is $218.95 with the HST already in it, the cheapest whole party here with nothing left to add.

Where can I have a birthday party for my child in Toronto?

Priced options are Flemingdon Community Centre at $262.05 for up to 20 children and Ripley's Aquarium at $750 for up to 25 guests. Two studios charge per painter: Fresh Paint at $35 plus HST, Crock A Doodle from $24.

Where are the birthday party venues in Mississauga?

The City publishes no party price, so the priced choices are private. Sky Zone is $504 for twelve, Air Riderz $408 on a weekday and $468 on a weekend, and The Rec Room $420 before tax and gratuity.

Are there toddler birthday party venues in Toronto and the 905?

Yes, and they are among the cheapest. Richmond Hill's Kindergym party is $237.22 with tax. Caledon's Kinder Party for ages two to six is $293.11 for up to 12 children, and Vaughan Public Libraries runs Mini Makers for ages three to six at $249.

What are the indoor birthday party venues in Toronto and the GTA?

Every package in the table is indoor, which is why this list still works in January. Richmond Hill also sells two outdoor parties: a bonfire at Phyllis Rawlinson Park at $238.81 and a ropes course at $257.65. Both cost more than its indoor skating party at $218.95. Municipal gym slots run on a school-year season: Whitby's six gym party times run from September 2026 to June 2027.

How do you celebrate a low budget birthday party?

Book a public room and bring your own food. The six public and non-profit packages we priced have a median of $255.53, against $438 at the private venues that sell a whole party. Those rooms come without catering. A weekday saves about another 15 to 25 per cent where a venue publishes a weekday rate.

How this guide was made

On August 27, 2026 we read the birthday pages of 26 venues across Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Caledon and Whitby, took every figure from the operator's own page or its own linked file, and priced one standard party of twelve children at each of the 20 that publish a rate, using six municipal pages, a library system, a YMCA and the Ontario Science Centre's own admission page.
