How we collect, use, share and sell information, and the choices you have.
This policy explains what information GTA Guide collects when you use greater-toronto-area-guide.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy; if you do not agree, do not use the site.

What we collect
Collected automatically: the pages you view, the links and buttons you use, how far you scroll, search activity on the site, performance measurements, session recordings of how pages are used (scrolling, clicks and what is typed on the page), your IP address, the approximate location derived from it, device and browser details, and identifiers stored in cookies and similar technologies.
Provided by you: when you send the contact form we receive the name, email address and message you enter.
Analytics, advertising and similar technologies
We use PostHog, served from our own domain, for product analytics and session recordings. We also use, or may begin using at any time, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising and tracking tools such as the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, and other analytics, advertising, measurement and audience technologies.
These providers set their own cookies and identifiers, collect information about your visit directly from your browser, and may combine it with information they already hold about you. Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, which we do not control and for which we are not responsible: see the policies of Google, Meta and PostHog.
How we use information
We use the information described above to operate, maintain and improve the site; to understand which guides help readers; to measure, target and serve advertising, including interest-based advertising on and off the site; to build and share audiences for advertising; to attribute conversions; to detect abuse and protect the site; to comply with legal obligations; and for any other purpose described to you at the time of collection or to which you consent.
Selling and sharing information
We may sell, share, rent, license or otherwise disclose the information described in this policy, including personal information as defined by the law of your region, to advertising networks, analytics providers, data and audience platforms, measurement partners and other third parties, for their purposes as well as ours. Where a law such as the California Consumer Privacy Act defines selling or sharing, some of these disclosures may qualify, and you can opt out as described under Your choices.
We also disclose information to service providers who work on our behalf, in connection with a corporate transaction such as a sale, merger or financing, and where we believe disclosure is required or permitted by law. We do not sell the contents of your contact-form messages.
Your choices
Our own analytics and recordings are per browser and off by default for visitors whose browser sends Do Not Track. Analytics in this browser: on. . The change takes effect immediately and can be undone the same way; no account or cookie clearing is needed. This control governs our first-party analytics only and does not turn off third-party advertising or analytics technologies.
For third-party technologies you can limit cookies in your browser settings and use the opt-outs the providers offer: Google ad settings, Meta ad preferences and the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada tool at youradchoices.ca. Blocking cookies may affect how the site works.
Contact form
Contact-form submissions are stored so we can reply and keep a record of the correspondence. The name, email and message fields are excluded from session recordings, and the only analytics event a submission creates says which page it came from.
Retention
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, to comply with the law, or to resolve disputes, and then delete or de-identify it. Aggregated or de-identified information is not subject to this policy and we may keep and use it indefinitely.
Security
We use safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure and we cannot promise absolute security. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for unauthorized access, use or disclosure that occurs despite those safeguards or that results from events outside our reasonable control.
Children
The site is written for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age where a parent or guardian must consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where information is processed
Information may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States and other countries, by us and by the providers named above. Privacy laws in those places may differ from the laws where you live, and authorities there may have access to information under their own laws.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, to withdraw consent, or to opt out of certain sales, sharing or targeted advertising. To exercise a right, use the contact page; we may need to verify who you are first, and we will respond as the applicable law requires. You will not be treated differently for exercising a right.
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy at any time. Changes take effect when the updated policy is posted on this page with a new effective date, and your continued use of the site after that is acceptance of the change. Check this page from time to time.
